Home!

By golly I am home now. I am not going to be doing a lot for a few days but will journal/write in my diary as much as I can right away in the morning or in the afternoon when I am not so tired. The procedure was a success and I am glad to know that. My two-night hospital stay was wonderful and the incision is a beautiful piece of artwork Dr. S has done on my arm. It is indeed beautiful if you want to see an incision.

Now, please do not call me a dummy or anything but I learned what a fistula is today and I was shocked and awed to find out what it really is. It is when a doctor takes the time to find veins and arteries and makes a place where the hemodialysis inserts can go in – one for input and one for output of the blood that is cleaned in a 4 to 5 hour sitting. I call it rewiring circuits in a way to make a thrill/pulse for easy blood flow. Now my left poking vein is unusable for getting blood for labs and I also have to have my blood pressure checked on the right arm as well. This is the way it is going to be from now on and it is something I have come to terms with very quickly as far as change is concerned. Change and I have issues from time to time.
